Good for Energy Conservation
To get 100 btus of energy from ethanol, you need to input 74 btus creating a positive energy balance. However, for gasoline, to get 100 btus of energy, you need to input 123 btus making it energy negative!

The Renew Utica was completed in 2003, becoming Wisconsin's 3rd ethanol produciton facility. With proprietary innnovations, Utica is currently producing 38% more ethanol than its rated capacity of 40 millions gallons. Utica also captures its carbon dioxide for use in the food industry.
Currently Utica produces traditional DDGS for livestock feed. But with the Renew appetite for innovation, the future promises many new product lines. Currently working with GS Cleantech, Utica is extracting corn oil from its distillers grains - yielding a basic ingredient for bio-diesel - as well as a higher quality livestock feed. Research and developement is also underway to replace natural gas boiler at the plant with a biomass energy plant. This innovation reduce fossil fuel inputs dramatically, savings dollars and making Utica's carbon footprint smaller than any ethanol plant yet in existence.
Renew Utica, has evolved and grown at a rapid pace in its first few years in operation. The coming years promise no less.
