The average new ethanol plant producing 100 million gallons of ethanol per year has a tremendous economic impact on its community...

The Renew-Jefferson plant is the largest dry milling ethanol plant in the world. As Wisconsin’s newest and largest ethanol plant, Renew Energy Jefferson will produce 130 million gallons of ethanol per year. The company has invested over $100 million in the construction project, and directly employs over 60 workers.
Renew Energy converted the former Cargill Malt, the largest malting plant in the world, into a state-of-the-art ethanol-producing facility. Jeff White, Renew CEO, stated, "Renew is deploying state of the art technologies that will result in our plant being more energy efficient and environmentally friendly. We will consume 20% less natural gas per gallon of ethanol produced than the industry standard. For air emissions such as carbon monoxide, nitrous oxides, and volatile organic compounds, we will produce less than at older facilities half our size.” Future plans at the site may include utilizing the malting beds to create a tilapia fish processing operation.
